Elastic Evaluation of Transparent Materials

Bulk Acoustic Waves (BAWs). BLS enables measurements of the speed of BAWs (longitudinal, transverse, if possible) at GHz frequency measurements of transparent materials such as crystals, glasses, polymers, liquids, and biological samples. Measurements can be performed as a function of the direction of propagation and temperature (e.g., phase transition tracking) (from -190°C to 250°C). Furthermore, based on BLS data, Young modulus, and elastic tensor can be determined.
