Group leader

Dr. Hab. Bartlomiej Graczykowski (Associate professor)

Dr. Bartlomiej Graczykowski obtained his Ph.D. in Physics in 2012 (AMU, Poznan, Poland). He was appointed as a postdoctoral researcher at ICN2 Barcelona in Spain (2013-2016) and MPIP Mainz in Germany (A. von Humboldt Foundation fellowship, 2016-2017). He is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Physics of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland, and a guest researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany. His research includes advanced inelastic light scattering techniques (Brillouin, Raman) applied to nanostructures, hypersound, and heat transport at the nanoscale in confined and organized systems.

Postdoctoral Researchers

Dr. Thomas Vasileiadis (Principal investigator)

I obtained my BSc in Physics (2011) and MSc in Materials Science (2013) from the University of Patras and moved to the Fritz Haber Institute in Berlin for my PhD in 2014. I completed my Ph.D. thesis, "Ultrafast energy flow and structural changes in nanoscale heterostructures", in 2019 and moved to the Adam Mickiewicz University with a Marie Curie widening fellowship in 2020. I am the PI of the research project funded by the National Research Centre Poland (UMO-2021/43/D/ST3/02526) carried out in the group of Bartlomiej Graczykowski.

Dr. Adam Krysztofik

Dr. Adam Krysztofik obtained his BS and MS in Physics from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. Subsequently, he pursued his Ph.D. research at the Institute of Molecular Physics Polish Academy of Sciences. During his doctoral studies, he investigated the magnetization dynamics of thin yttrium iron garnet (YIG) films. He gained expertise in pulsed laser deposition, X-ray diffractometry, broadband ferromagnetic resonance, and all electrical spin-wave spectroscopy. Dr. Krysztofik works as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Professor Graczykowski's group. His research focuses on light-to-motion conversion, particularly the photoactuation of polydopamine and other poly-catecholamines.

Dr. Anuj Kumar Dhiman

Dr. Anuj Kumar Dhiman obtained his Master's from Satyendra Nath Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata, India. During the Master's thesis, he has worked with Prof. A. Barman team on the topic of “Spin wave dynamics in Permalloy magnonic crystals”. In 2018 after completion of his Master's degree, shifted to University of Bialystok, Poland to continue his PhD studies in Prof. A. Maziewski group. During the PhD, he was part of Polish NCN project Beethoven and also supervised IEEE agnetics society student project. Under the supervision of Prof. R. Gieniusz, he defended his PhD thesis titled as “Magnetization statics and dynamics in selected ultrathin films and multilayers with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction” in January 2023. Thereafter, In March 2023 he joined the Faculty of Physics, Adam Mickiewicz University as postdoctoral researcher with Dr. T. Vasileiadis in Dr. B. Graczykowski group.

PhD Students

M.Sc. Jeena Varghese

MSc. Jeena Varghese obtained her MSc. in Physics from the University of Kerala, India, in 2016 and her M.Phil. in Physics from Mahatma Gandhi University, India, in 2018. In 2019, she joined Dr. B. Graczykowski's research group as a Ph.D. student and worked in the FNP-funded project “Photomechanical hybrid membranes nanomechanics (PHNOM). Her research focuses on the Brillouin light scattering investigation of polymer colloidal crystals exposed to supercritical fluids. She is interested in the fabrication of 2D and 3D colloidal crystals and their characterization by in-situ high-pressure BLS.

Master Students

BS. Marta Warżajtis

Marta Warżajtis began studying at the Faculty of Physics in 2018. The subject of her bachelor's thesis was “Selection of the optimal immersion medium for the optical characterization of Prince Rupert's Drop” which she defended in 2021. She is currently writing master's thesis on “Mechanical properties of poly-catecholamine membranes”.
