Mechanical Evaluation of Ultra-thin Membranes

Lamb Waves in membranes/ 2D materials: speed of sound of symmetric and antisymmetric Lamb and Shear-Horizontal waves in ultra-thin (< 50 nm) and thin (from 50 to 1000 nm) membranes made out of semiconductors, metals, dielectrics, and polymers. Furthermore, based on BLS data, Young modulus, residual stress, and elastic tensor can be determined.

Figure: (Left panel) Schematic illustration of micro-Brillouin backscattering geometry applied to 5-nm thick MoSe2 membrane. (Right panel) Calculated Young modulus as a function of Poisson ratio for as fabricated and relaxed sample, respectively.
