Hybrid (time-frequency resolved) BLS
Combined with fast electronics and photodiodes, pumped-BLS is used for time-resolved measurements with nanosecond (ns) and even sub-ns resolution. These timescales are very interesting for nanotechnology and (meta)materials research, as they include the lifetimes of GHz phonons in nanomembranes, spin dynamics, and fast relaxations in glasses and polymers. Ongoing investigations with hybrid, time-frequency resolved BLS in our lab aim to understand the conversion of light pulses into acoustic waves in metal-semiconductor heterostructures.
